As Mayor, I am pleased to communicate that together with a group of representative institutions of our city, we are working for Rosario as venue for the XIV International Congress of the International Association of Educating Cities (AIEC) in 2016.
In 1996, our city decided to embrace the principles of the Charter of Educating Cities with the aim of contributing to building a better city for our citizens and especially, of being able to share experiences with cities from all over the world, united by this common goal. Since then, Rosario has been developing an extensive track record within IAEC framework.
At the Municipality of Rosario, we are firmly convinced of the educational role of our cities. Therefore, we assert once again, our conviction that local governments have been called to play -together with us, the city’s inhabitants- an important role in promoting Educating Cities.
This is clearly stated by the Charter of Educating Cities with its message to invest in the education of each and every individual, to increase his or her ability to express, affirm and develop his or her own human potential, with its uniqueness, creativity and responsibility; to promote the conditions for full equality and ensure that everyone can feel respected and capable of entering into dialogue with others.
